# Add & Edit Controls

## Add a Control

Choose a BI Reader and click **New.![](https://cdn.document360.io/d4eaa857-4dff-4f42-8629-f1dad8766afe/Images/Documentation/image-1622664103160.png)![](https://cdn.document360.io/d4eaa857-4dff-4f42-8629-f1dad8766afe/Images/Documentation/image-1622664124292.png)Sonar is compatible with multiple BI brands to be able to scan the barcode on the BI, which will retrieve the lot number and expiration date. If applicable, you will only be required to enter the well number the BI control will be placed in. If scanning the barcode does not work, you may enter the information by clicking** **Select Manually****. ## Edit / Read a Control

Under **Status,** Sonar gives you a message that your BI control result is ready to be documented. **![](https://cdn.document360.io/d4eaa857-4dff-4f42-8629-f1dad8766afe/Images/Documentation/image-1622664581376.png)**

Click on **Edit.**

Read your BI Result by checking the **Positive** or **Negative** box. **Time Out** and **Record By** will automatically be filled in.![](https://cdn.document360.io/d4eaa857-4dff-4f42-8629-f1dad8766afe/Images/Documentation/image-1622664809265.png)

Click on **Save** to save your changes. Repeat steps for all necessary BI control readers.

Negative ResultSonar will **not** allow loads to be released without a positive control result. If your control reads negative, try again and document accordingly!
