Article summary

Admin Tab

This area is used for administrative purposes such as syncing the item with Epic or documenting progress on Sonar optimization services.

Sync

What does syncing do and what should you sync?
Turning "Sync to Other Software Systems" on will allow for data to flow to your EMR tracking system provided that the interface has already been setup and aligned. This will automatically send the ID, Item Name and Storage Location over the interface.
Other tracking systems (Lawson, Tecsys)- Turning sync on will allow the required data for each system to flow across the interface. Lawson will receive the fields: Instrument Description, Manufacturer and Part Number. Tecsys will receive the fields: Inventory name, Inventory Number, Barcode Value.

Optimization

Status

Document the optimization/standardization progress of this item.

Standardization

Standardize your item names and count sheets across the health system.

Item Standardization
It is recommended that your item names and count sheets match those of other facilities in your health system. This can help with planning and facility sharing, limiting mistakes, and cleansing your preference cards. Contact an Ascendco Sonar representative to get started!

Example:
Facility 1: Set Gen Basic - 85 instruments
Facility 2: Set Gen Basic - 85 instruments - almost exact match, but a few different instruments
Facility 3: Set Basic - 85 instruments - exact match, but slightly different name.
Facility 4: Set Gen Basic - 75 instruments - Same instruments, just 10 short

Our Sonar team will work closely with all four facility teams to find common ground on an item name and count sheet.

Optimization

Cut instruments out of the tray so it only includes what is actually needed.

Why Optimize?
Trays often have instruments added to them based on specific doctor requests or incidents, but how often are instruments taken off of a count sheet? Maybe a surgeon has retired, but his specific instruments are still in the tray. Or maybe you have 16 Kelly clamps, but no more than 12 are used. These extra, useless instruments are costing the facility time and money both is reprocessing and in the OR, so let's take a deeper look into your trays.Contact an Ascendco Sonar representative to get started! We will work closely with SPD and OR teams as well as physicians to assure a safe and efficient transition.
